Image description
The image shows the face of a person who expresses the emotion called disgust. This emotional state is reflected on the outside, through different facial expressions. There are forty two individual muscles in the face, that are activated by the respective emotion, and impacts facial expressions on the facial elements: forehead, eyebrows, eyelids, nose, cheeks, lips, chin.
The face is oval, rendered blank, outlined, with a broad forehead and a square jaw. The wide ears, on either side of the edge of the face, are rendered as two vertically elongated ovals, marking the earlobe. The nose, in the center of the face, is long and ends at the base, above the lips, with a convex or curvy tip with wide nostrils, on either side.
The eyebrows, under the forehead and above the eyes, are rendered as two horizontal, embossed lines, slightly curved. The eyes are shown as two blank horizontal ovals, in the center of which is the eyeball highlighted by a thickened circle.
The mouth under the nose has the upper and lower lips separated and highlighted as two embossed lines, parallel, and curved down.
The hair on the head is combed on the back, starting from the edge of the forehead, and on either side it frames the face above the ears, left and right, being shown embossed.
In the case of disgust, the contour of the eyes on the sides, towards the temples and nose, is intensely wrinkled.
The eyes are exceedingly narrowed by the bags under them which become more prominent, being pulled up the eyes by the muscles below them and rendered by a short line, inclined towards the nose, on either side of the lower part of the eyes. The lowered eyelids are highlighted by a short, horizontal line, above the eyes, just below the eyebrows.
Because in the case of disgust, the face seems drawn and pale, in the lower part of the eye contour the periorbital circles are more obvious, like blemishes or hollow marks above the cheekbones, on either side of the nose. These circles are rendered by a dashed line, curved towards the cheekbones, to the left and right of the nose.
The mouth is closed, and the left and right corners of the mouth are pulled down by the lateral muscles of the corners of the mouth, which stretch down the lips towards the chin, while the chin is raised below the lower lip.
