Image description

The image shows a Romanian tractor, viewed from side, pointing to the left.

The outer skeleton of the vehicle or the body car is high in height, heavy and massive, marked embossed.

The tractor consists of a squarish body at the back, right, called the control cabin with two windows and an elongated body, rectangular, at the front, left, where the engine is located.

The side windows of the driver’s cab are highlighted by large, blank shapes.

The cabin door is shown on the left side, outlined by a blank line and belongs to the first window also on the left.

The wheels are highlighted by circles filled with the texture of short lines, placed concentrically, one circle with a large diameter at the rear, for the drive wheels, and a smaller one at the front, for the steering wheels.

The big rear wheel guards, right, are located above the tires, being shown only the one from side, spotted by its dotted texture.

Because the engine is at the front of the driver’s cab, compared to other vehicles, the exhaust pipe through which the noxious substances are removed is mounted above the engine box, left, illustrated as a vertical and thickened bar.

Additional information

On November 10, 1925, the Romanian Aeronautical Company was set up, the purpose of which was to represent, according to the first report of the company, the creation of fabrics in Romania that could build “airplanes in one year and engines in two”.

After twenty years from the founding and in the new geopolitical context that followed the Second World War, the company would be oriented towards other products. Thus, this year it was coming out the door of the factory “The First Romanian Tractor”, called IAR 22, whose source of inspiration were the Hannomag tractors. IAR 22 weighed 3.4 tons, and a 38 hp Diesel engine came with it. It also had a tensile strength of 1225 kgf.

In addition to domestic use, the tractor was to be exported to China, India and Egypt, as well as to other countries.
After 1945, other changes in the history of this aeronautical company would occur. Thus, in 1947 it changed its name into the State Metallurgical Enterprise, and in 1948 into the “Tractorul Brasov”, a name that it will keep until the end of the communist regime.

In addition to IAR 22, the Brasov factory also produced the following types of tractors during the communist period: U 650 in 1963, U 445 with Fiat license from 1968, the latter being described as the “premium product of the factory”. According to a material made by DIGI TV, during the communist period, following the existing request, it was a realization that once a 9 minutes, a tractor would come out the door of the factory of the same name. Also, there were 26,000 thousands of workers here in glory. After the fall of the communist regime, the Tractor will be privatized, becoming a joint stock company. It will, like most of the big communist companies, go through a period of decline, situation worsened by the fact that the company has not been able to find a viable investor.
