Image description

The image shows the face of a person who expresses the emotion called irritation. This emotional state is reflected on the outside, through different facial expressions. There are forty two individual muscles in the face, that are activated by the respective emotion, and impacts facial expressions on the facial elements: forehead, eyebrows, eyelids, nose, cheeks, lips, chin.

The face is oval, rendered blank, outlined, with a broad forehead and a square jaw. The wide ears, on either side of the edge of the face, are rendered as two vertically elongated ovals, marking the earlobe. The nose, in the center of the face, is long and ends at the base, above the lips, with a convex or curvy tip with wide nostrils, on either side.

The eyebrows, under the forehead and above the eyes, are rendered as two horizontal, embossed lines, slightly curved. The eyes are shown as two blank horizontal ovals, very flattened, in the center of which is the eyeball highlighted by a thickened circle.

The mouth under the nose is closed, with the lips sealed together, the lower one, fuller, being rendered blank, and the upper one, thinner, highlighted by a thick wavy line, with the left and right corners lowered.

The hair on the head is combed on the back, starting from the edge of the forehead, and on either side it frames the face above the ears, left and right, being shown embossed.

In case of irritation, the eye contour on the sides, towards the temples and nose, is intensely wrinkled. These creases are rendered by two short, parallel lines at the corners of the eyes and a dashed line, curved upwards, located in the central point between the eyebrows. This crease occurs when the eyebrows get closer to each other, as in a frown, and bulge the skin between them. Also, two other folds are formed above the corners of the eyebrows, when they are raised and highly arched. These wrinkles on the forehead, above the eyebrows are rendered with two other dashed lines, curved downwards.

The eyes are exceedingly narrowed by the lower and upper eyelids. Thus, the bags under them become more prominent, being pulled up the eyes by the muscles below them and rendered by a short line, inclined towards the nose, on either side of the lower part of the eyes. The dropping eyelids are highlighted by a short, horizontal line, above the eyes, just below the eyebrows.

The nose wrinkles, the nostrils swell and the muscles on each side pull the skin next to the nose upwards, forming pits around the nose and bulging the cheeks above. These folds are highlighted by two dashed lines, curved towards the nose, on either side of the face, under the cheekbones.

The left and right corners of the mouth are pulled down, while the chin is raised below the lower lip.
