The steel crown of Romanian kings was moulded out of an ottoman canon captured in the Plevna battle, during the War of Independence 1877 according to a sketch created by Theodor Aman. It is 19 cm tall.
This tactile representation is a lateral view, made up of a front circle with 8 fleurons (dots texture) and 8 pearls (oval and rhombic, represented as embossed in the lower part of the image), decorated with models of precious gems, all stylized out of steel (also shown embossed on the lateral arms), the 8 fleurons are joined at the top of the crown, by the ”Danube crossing” cross (shown embossed in the image). The original crown weighs 1,115 grams.
