Drawer – coming soon

The freedom to create personalized materials

The educational revolution Tactile Images facilitates blind people’s easy access to any teaching material. This is why we make available the DRAWER function, which allows the realization of personalized tactile graphics. The neighborhood they live in, portraits of beloved people or famous paintings – they can all be created here as tactile graphics.

What is the DRAWER?

The DRAWER is a browser-dedicated software that will be developed in the near future and it represents the place where any person can draw an accessible image, regardless of their knowledge level. It has as main purpose the empowering of sighted people (family, teachers, volunteers) to create representations of the surrounding world through personalized tactile graphics.

How does the DRAWER work?

Because it works on a Drag & Drop principle, the DRAWER is easy to use and does not require any special skills. The innovation is brought by the fact that any object can be scaled. We will be using a little man as a reference for the representation of the real-life size of the objects. This little man will be present on the tactile graphics.

What steps should you follow?

Ways to create a personalized drawing

  1. Clip art – this technique implies drawing simple lines, whose unification will bring to the creation of new elements, such as trees, cars, people or vehicles.
  2. Drawing over an already existing picture – this technique implies uploading your own picture in the LIBRARY and is used for creating maps, portraits or paintings. A new layer will be added over your picture, where you will have the freedom to create by drawing simple lines.
  3. Hatching and poly-lines – this technique enables the clear separation of spaces and volumes.

The next step

The creation process ends with the Editor, where you will have to select the areas of interest, add the corresponding descriptions and useful information, which will help the blind enrich their knowledge.

How do you emboss the created image?

All you have to do now is print the board on embossed paper or emboss it yourself, with DIY techniques, with reduced cost. You can find out more about manual embossing techniques right here

What do you do next?

Download the Tactile Images READER App from App Store, place the phone above the tactile graphics and enjoy limitless access to knowledge! Read more about the app here.
